Hey there everyone!
We hope that you guys had an active and healthy week! As we all know, the weather is declining, and it is becoming harder to Get Out There! So, we wanted to update you guys on what’s been going on around campus. AND… you guys can make an appearance on our page by sending in how you are staying active right now! But we’ll talk more about that later.
So what’s new! With the weather changing so quickly, there is far less spike ball and far more hockey being played. At Victoria Park on Queen’s campus there are two outdoor rinks being made right now which should be ready by the time the weather is sub-zero. That will make for a great opportunity for all the hockey players out there, and the same goes for those who just want to get a few laps in casually. LUG hockey has also completely taken off, as most teams have now played 3 or more games which has been a good source of physical activity for many of our athletes. We know the winter does take away a handful of options, but it also allows for more options as well. That is why we want to hear what you guys are going to be doing to stay active when the weather is unbearable.
If you happened to see our last blog post including tips and tricks on how to stay active during the pandemic, you have hopefully begun to put them into action and are awaiting the next set! The tip that we focused on with a busy schedule this week was going on walks and using them as a social event. We found that with work ramping up because of finals, combined with the declining weather, going on walks with a friend was a great way to get some physical activity into our week. Another great activity that we began to do this past week was going on rollerblading excursions around town at a steady pace similar to a run. It was a great way to get your legs moving and with a jacket on you could barely feel the cold!
Now, how do you get featured on the website for your activity!? Every week we will be posting a new set of tips and tricks and you guys have the opportunity to become a massive part of this weekly event. You can send in your idea or your personal tip to our Instagram @g3toutthere, our email getouttheretoday1@gmail.com or tweet/facebook message us! Any of those platforms work and we are very excited to see what you guys send us!
And just a little reminder, COVID-19 is still present and we have to maintain each other’s health and safety. So keep up the social distancing and keep sanitizing! If you need more tips on coping with COVID, check out these fellas: https://copingwithrona.wordpress.com/blog/
