Hey everyone!
We realize that during the pandemic it can be more difficult to play in sports and that there are many people who don’t have a group to play with. That is why we want to offer everyone some tips and tricks on how to stay active even if there are times where it is difficult to organize something.
Tip #1: Walks
I know, it sounds like a very mild option in comparison to playing basketball or football, but walking is an incredible way to get some fitness into your day. Since the pandemic began, it has been suggested by experts that not only is walking a great option to get active during the day if you are working remotely, but it is also great for your mental health. There are so many beautiful places to walk around in Kingston that can be both relaxing and refreshing if you have been sitting at home all week. There is a nice trail that you can walk on by the water that will take you through downtown, as well as many trails and parks to walk through around town. Although walking seems like its nothing compared to a sport, it’s a great way to get some activity if you have nothing organized.
Tip #2: Plan a Personal Workout
This is another option that can help you maintain a healthy amount of daily activity, but from within your own living space! Planning a personal workout can be as simple as completing a 10-minute workout just to get any activity into your day. We highly encourage this because on days when the weather stops us from going outside, or when work stops you from going outside, you have an option to still get your body active. This option can be as short as 10-minutes or it can be a fully planned one hour long workout, the choice if totally yours!
Tip #3: Make Exercise A Social Event
This is a simple tip. Do whatever you are going to do with a friend or with multiple friends! Turning physical activity into a social event as well makes it far more enjoyable and can motivate you even more to have someone participating with you. For example, if you are going on a run invite a friend, if you are going to workout at home try and get one of your housemates to join you. These little additions can make the world of difference for your motivation and enjoyment you will get out of being physically active! Those are the three biggest tips we have for you right now! We will be offering many more as the winter continues to creep up on us, because we all know what cold weather can do to our physical activity. We hope you enjoyed these tips and tricks and please contact us if you have any great ideas that we have not yet touched on!
