Hey there athletes, we are excited to be bringing you the second edition of moment of the week from GetOutThere events. Our first moment of the week featured a spike ball tournament which went down when the weather was still quite nice. That was a great time, and we were so excited about how well one of our first events went. Now here we are, Moment of the Week Edition #2!
This week was a little bit slower than other weeks because of the weather getting colder, but that did not stop a group of 6 athletes from playing a 3on3 basketball game through a light rainfall and early darkness. This group of first year students showed a great amount of perseverance and determination to win this competitive battle. This event was scheduled for 1PM on November 15th, and the event stretched out until 3:30PM!
These two teams also showed fantastic sportsmanship and although the game became increasingly more competitive, they followed the rules and called their own fouls. The rain did act as a little bit of an obstacle, but this group of athletes was too determined to let that ruin their game of 3on3. There was a minimal amount of sunlight, light rainfalls and these guys battled through it and did not look back. The final score of the affair ended up being 33-31 in game up to 21 with a conditional win by 2 rule.
We were extremely happy with how this event turned out, especially despite the poor weather conditions. For the most part, events have been smooth sailing and if there is a weather concern it will be scheduled for another date. But these athletes were too determined to keep going and wanted to play until the game was officially over. We were very pleased with the result of this event and hope to see more like this in the future!
We are looking forward to the next moment of the week and we hope that you are too! #GetOutThere
