A Warm Week In Kingston

Hey athletes! After such a warm week in Kingston we thought you should all hear about the great athletic events that went down all-around town. The weather has been very up and down for the past few weeks, but we were so lucky to be granted the weather to play practically any sport we wanted. From 3 on 3 basketball tournaments in Victoria Park, to SpikeBall games on Tindall field, it was an action-packed week with a lot of fun, so let’s dive into it!

Basketball:

It was a great turn out at the basketball courts throughout the week. There was a 3-on-3 tournament organized on the 1st of November and it was a great turn out. There were 5 teams of three and the tournament consisted of a round robin with games up to a score of 7, with the playoff games being up to a score of 11. It was a very competitive atmosphere with the teams giving everything that they had to offer on the court. We were thrilled to see such sportsmanship displayed by every team that was a part of the games as well. If you are interested in getting involved in the next tournament or want to start a new one for the upcoming week, please click on the Request a Game tab at the top of the page. We encourage all of you to try and stay involved until the weather makes it almost impossible to play competitive basketball outside with friends. The winter is coming, and it is our duty to stay active as much as we can!

SpikeBall:

SpikeBall is a great way to get full body exercise and we were pleased to see so many of you playing this past week! Although there were no tournaments this past week, there were so many games going on in so many different places. Games were played at Nixon Field, Tindall Field, Victoria Park, down near the water and outside of residence on campus. SpikeBall is a great way to get some cardio into your day and is a great way to condition your body. The sport has been found to be a great contributor to coordination, agility, team communication and don’t forget about fun! Despite SpikeBall maybe not being considered one of the “main” sports that you think of right away, there is a long list of benefits that come with playing it. We highly encourage all of you to continue to play and getting out there while you can. Check out the schedule for any upcoming games!

Football:

Last but definitely not least, we had a great group of third year students show up to play at Nixon Field on Thursday the 5th. The games begun at a very strong pace but of course slowed down by the third and fourth games that were played. It was great to see some athletes coming out on one of the chillier days of the week to still play competitively and keep your legs warm. The games were played horizontally across the field which ended up working quite well with 6-man teams. This was an especially fun tournament, and the participants came back the following day to play again. We were very impressed with their participation and were happy to hear they were playing the next day. That sums up our warm week in Kingston. It was action packed and it was great to see so many athletes getting involved in different sports and games across town. We are looking forward to the upcoming week and hope that you guys keep up your activeness! For more updates please check the schedule, if you want to create an event please put in a request, and to see the moment of this past week stay tuned!
